I have been thinking lately about the incredible people that I know. One of whom is Shawn Nussbaum.

Shawn is an inspiration to me because he is using is creativity to take care of his family and empower others. It's fine to want to provide for your family, but I think it is special that Shawn is looking to do more than have a comfortable life. Take a look at Shawn's web site to find out more.

Music, Tribes, & Meatballs

I love this new changing world we live in. The opportunities seem limitless. It's as if our only limitation is our vision. Things are changing so fast that by this time next year things I can only dream of become a reality. I have been fascinated by the new avenues of marketing, networking and promotion. I recently read a book by Seth Godin, entitled Meatball Sundae. In his book Seth describes the struggle for businesses to change how they relate to customers through new media channels. The question he raises is, does the business model match the new environment?

I was talking to my friend Tim Scroggs about this very issue and both he and Seth seemed to recognize some of the same things. You see Tim is wrestling with the issues Seth describes in his book. Tim is a very talented musician/songwriter who wants to connect with an audience. I was fascinated by our discussion and have not stopped thinking about it for the past few months. Then I remembered that in Seth's book what he mentions about the power of being in a tribe. What makes people loyal to a band or musician? There are plenty of talented people on myspace but few sell enough to earn a living. They may have thousands of "friends", but no loyal listeners. Tim talked about the need to connect with the audience and develop a true following. Seth talked about more and new levels of interaction and communication. Seth also talked about the power of being a part of a tribe.

The reason the word tribe resonates with me is that I have a deep need for connection. The word almost seems foundational to society. This word tribe is so important now because now more than ever we have so many options it's like we are floating. What grounds us is our connections to people and relationships. The reason I love Tim's music is because I have connected with him and his music. I have become a loyal fan. So what is the point? My point is that we should not take the connections we have for granted, we should embrace them. Be loyal when loyalty is warranted. Allow yourself to be a part of a tribe or multiple tribes. We don't just have to sit back and watch any more we can contribute and engage.

So with all this opportunity and changing environment how will our world look in a few years? It is unclear, but I know that I choose to embrace the changes with excitement and expectation. I will look to be accessible and have something to offer.

I recently came across a company in California that consults companies in Africa and other developing countries. What an exciting concept!

More Vision for this Group

We can set out to produce. I think an impoverished mentality is that we are out to take more than we give. My mentality should be to be able to produce and give far more than I take. This is the idea of value.

The vision is to produce businesses that have this mentality. To be able to produce a valuable product or service and be able to empower orphan's etc.

1. Start with building a progressive company. Vision, Mission, Goals, Values Financial, Marketing, Business Plan, Management strategies, Charitable giving. In all of these areas a group of creative individuals can build the building block for a successful endeavor. Then once the the patten is set release the leadership of the company.

2. Launch and implement these new strategies. What are the short term and long term goals. Periodic reviews and empowerment in weak areas. Group serves the Leader and supports his or her vision.

3. Charitable aspect. It is important for the company to be financially successful and those who do great work also to be rewarded, but we believe that if we make strategic giving a priority then it will surprise us at how much will be available to give.

Foundation

Where do you start?



You start at the begining. Who are you and what are you here for? Once you find out you can move and act in confidence. Who you are, and who you are not, is vital to moving forward. One of the greatest revelations for me was that I could have weakness and holes and that is OK. I can be happy with who I am. Being satisfied with who I am does not mean I don't want to grow. I long to be mature. My personality does however have may limitations. Knowing my limitation helps me to appreciate the strengths of other. I am not a detail person. I like to look at the bigger picture. I am not the type of person who enjoys all the minute detail of philosophy and religion. Just give me the gist and help me fit it into practice. How does it affect how I should live.



The Point I am trying to get at is that people were created to need each other and God. I will say this unequivically. We have an absolute need for God.

Vision for Entregroup

Short Background

I have had some ideas that have been floating around in my mind for a long time now. It is time to put some of these down in writing. For several years I have seen the potential in so many of the people around me. We all have different gifts and talents that complement each others. What would happen if we used our gifts to empower one another?

I have been seeking to build a company for the past seven years. The development of this company has taken many different people with many different gifts. The courage to take risks has come from the hope that someday I will have greater resources to empower others.

The Vision

I see a group of people who have skills in specific areas to join together to empower one another to fulfill each of there unique goals and dreams. A percentage of the outcome would be used to empower others outside the group. (such as orphans etc)

Mission: To use our specific area of expertise to empower individuals inside the group and outside.

Strategies:
1. Define four to seven specific areas to create teams of professionals around
2. Clearly define vision, mission, values and goals for each member
3. Define a strategic plan for each member
